I am reading The Lightning Thief to my 3 sons. It is a really good book that keeps them wanting more. Unfortunately, a short 4 chapters into the book the mother is disintegrated! My boys did not know what disintegrated meant. I had to educate my children that the mother was blown to bits and there was no trace left of her. As I looked at their wide eyes I felt slightly frightened. What are they thinking? Do they feel bad for Percy, the main character, to be left motherless? Or does the idea of mama being wiped off the face of the earth sound like a good idea?
Why do the parents always have to die? From Bambi, to Lion King, to Anastasia. The companies that entertain our children are killing us off one by one!
