About 5 years ago I was in the hall way with my less than quiet
baby, Ethan, during church. A sweet lady was also pacing the halls
with her less than quiet baby. We discovered that not only were our
boys were less than a year apart, but they were also both named Ethan.
I remember watching our boys crawl with their bald heads side by side,
and their little fingers streaking the glass on the doors.
Shortly after the church boundaries were changed I only saw Ethan
and his mother occasionally at stores or the library. But when we
moved into our current home we were once again going to the same church
services. It was nice to see them! I taught a primary class and Ethan
sat behind me during the primary singing time. He was a content little
boy who was happy to be included in everything. With a small voice he
would quietly sing the songs, I Am A Child Of God and A Child's Prayer. This content little boy singing "Jesus Loves Me This I Know"
was suffering from cancer. Ethan's a fighter! With his loving
parents, best friend brother, and little sister by his side, he fought
that disease until there wasn't any fight left.
Ethan returned to Heaven a few days ago. Madison was able to
babysit his siblings at the hospital while Ethan was receiving medical
treatments. Together, Madison and I will be going to Ethan's viewing.
We want to express our gratitude to his parents for giving us the
opportunity to know Ethan. I'm certain Ethan's singing I Am A Child Of God with the angels now.
