Teacher Gifts On The Last Day Of School

Celebration time!  It is the last day of school!  I am looking forward to the lazy days of summer with my children.  No homework and early mornings!  The summer is mine, mine, mine!!!!

Every year I stress over teacher gifts.  I think it is so hard for me because I want to give them something nice because they have been such big influences on my children.  But unfortunately, there's always a budget so it's hard to get something nice without breaking the bank.  One of the nice things about our school is that they have team teachers.  So, the students have a homeroom teacher, and 2 other teachers for math and science.  So, I have a lot of teachers to shop for!

I was browsing one of my favorite stores when I saw these adorable appliqued monogram towels.  They were $25 each or $125.00 for the 5 towels that I needed, definitely not fitting into the budget.  But I knew I could make them!  So, $30 and a short time later, I had my teacher gifts.  I am thrilled with them.  I am actually proud of my gifts this year!  I see a lot of towels for gifts in my future!

What do you think Mr. Shelton, do I get an A?

Very very cute...but shouldn't you do this at the beginning of the year, as a chance for your kid to kiss up? It doesn't help them at all the last day of class.

Okay, yesterday I was in envy of your sewing skills. Today I am in awe! Those are great! I love them and frankly I want some for me! How do you make such a towel?

I don't think that I can be your friend anymore as you are way too crafty...as for my kid's teacher's gifts...we ended up at one of those nifty little gift card kiosk in the grocery store at 9:00 pm on the day before the last day of school. I thought ...how convenient... this must be what working mom's do for teacher's gifts-you know the ones that have no time but some wiggle room in their budgets. My happiness soon turned to horror when I realized that the minimum amount was $25.00-keep in mind that I am not proud to say that I make just over $8.00 an hour at the school. So after standing there a while and deciding that sleep was more impotant than my $125.00-we had five glorious gift cards-fast forward to the next day -Meghan tells me that she LOST the one for her wonderful violin teacher. I think i'm losing money being a working mom-so once again I am jealous of all your many talents.

Ok, now I'm serious. When are you going to start taking orders? Cute towels to match those awesome tote bags!

Very cute! (and I am impressed at how professional they look.)
I was just in Borders this afternoon and saw a big rack of useless stuff that said "Great Teacher Gifts". I cringed when I saw it. Why do stores think teachers need these things? Why do they try to persuade paretns to buy them for their teachers? They are useless. The towels...I could use.
