Paper Back Swap and Book Crossing

I am a member of Paperback Swap.  If you are not familiar with this site it is where you can list paperback books that you are willing to send to someone.  In exchange you receive credits that will enable you to request books to be sent to you.  It is all free.  The only expense is postage for mailing books to other members that is around $2.00.

I got a new book from Paperback swap today called Middlesex.  Inside was a book mark for BookCrossing.  I've never heard of this before.  It tracks your book and lets the reader write their reviews.  How fun is that?!  This book started in Williamsville, New York; next was Key West, Florida;  then back to New York to New Rochelle; and now little old me in Texas.  I have to hurry and finish this book so I can see where it will go next!

I am choosing books from my brother's reccommended reading list.  Currently I am reading Water For Elephants.  But I am having a really hard time getting into this book.  Should I press on, or give up and start Middlesex?  And is this book going to be about sex?  Because I'm still blushing from some of the stuff in the last book I read, Running With Scissors.  And no, I'm not a prude, but holy cow Jason!  You need to warn me!

I joined Bookmooch a few months back, same idea as Paperback Swap. And funny enough I started a book a few days ago I feel like I should read, but I just can't get into. Lo and behold in comes a "fun summer read" and it was just begging me to drop the first book. I gave in and am already much further into this book. I figure I can go back to the first one some other time.

I so did warn you about Running With Scissors!
Water For Elephants does get better. Middlesex is excellent and interesting and not really much about sex.
I like the Bookmooch idea. Very fun! I just have a hard time reading the books that I already have.

I love BookCrossing--I found David Sedaris' "Me Talk Pretty Some Day" on a bench by the swan pond in Boston when I was on vacation. Totally made my day.
Middlesex is a great book.
