Okay, here are the cupcakes. Looks good, huh? You can't tell the cake is really meatloaf and the frosting is colored mashed potatoes. If you look closely you can see the steam rising off of them. I had to put them in the refrigerator so that they would be cool enough by the time the boys got off the bus. Who would fall for a frosted cupcake that was too hot to hold!
I had the boys all sit down for snack as I always do. They were excited when I said we were having cupcakes because I usually have fruit or crackers for them. As they lifted the cupcakes they grew suspicious. "What flavor are these?"
"Strawberry. You'll like them!" They all took a bite and this is the result.
Three boys went running for the garbage can and the remaining two froze in place not knowing what to do with the morsel in their mouths! That's when I yelled "April Fools!" It was great, if I do say so myself!
Of course they had to give the delicious dessert to Madison. She was also suspicious but fell victim after all 5 boys insisted she try it.
After Cameron had been home for a little while I noticed there was something funny about his shorts. He wore his shorts backwards all day without realizing it! So, I guess he pulled an April Fools prank on himself!
