Rachael Ray versus Paula Deen

I made the Rachael Ray Shepherd Pie turkey thing I wrote about in my post yesterday.  The good thing is that it was such a large recipe that I was able to freeze part of it for a later dinner.  The bad thing is that it was complete muck.  This is the 3rd time I've made a Rachael Ray and the 3rd time I've had to toss it.  Sigh.  I love Rachael Ray.  I like her talk show.  I like her cooking show.  She has the pep and energy that I wish I had.   But a person can't eat pep.

Now that Paul Deen is a true vixen in the kitchen.  She intices you with her butter laden dishes.  You won't even care that her menu is clogging your arteries.  Because it will be a sweet, albeit slow death!

I've always wanted to have a blog give away.  So the first person who leaves a comment will win the frozen Shepherd Turkey muck!

Oh jeez... See, no one wants to comment now! LOL! I will forfeit my prize but I have to say, I love making her meatloaf patties & smashed potatoes. That's the only recipe of hers I've made though.

I'm starting to question you Katrine. I can't stand watching the Rachel Ray. The following is my unsolicited opinion:
I think my distaste with RR began with "$40 a Day." What sort of achievement is that? She spent JUST under $40 to feed a single person for a single day...and the FoodNetwork give her a show about it?!!! Then 30-Minute Meals...ya they are really only 30 minutes if your personal assistant has already done all the prep for you. If I never had to chop a single veggi or precook my meat, I'd be done in 15 minutes too.
As for her broadcast TV show, I haven't really seen it...only tiny bits, so I can't say it's a bad show, but the fact that RR hosts it, does have it's implications for me...
As for Paula Dean, I have only seen her make turducken. She wasn't super exciting, but the food looked great...she seemed like a sweet southern family woman which I liked, but I really don't have enough experience with her shows or cooking to pass judgement. As for now though...I think I'd rather die in cardiac arrest deliciousness than endure RR ;D

Find Rachael's Pumpkin Sausage Pasta recipe. Or her spinach artichoke tortellini.
I am not standing up for her, I can't stand her.
But these are actually quite tasty (and easy) if you can't find 'em email me and I'll restore your faith in why that woman gets paid SO MUCH MONEY.
