I really hate this stupid bumper sticker. I like Texas, I do. But this Texas Pride thing can go way to far.
One of the reasons I like Texas is because I met my dear sweet friend here. Carolyn is the nicest person you could meet. She was born and raised in a little Texas town. And if you're from a little Texas town you're going to have a big accent. I was raised in a small Utah town, so at times this culture difference can be quite entertaining. Most of the time I don't even notice her accent (or I guess it would be I don't notice my accent because I'm a Texas transplant you know) but there are times I get caught up in the lingo or I can't figure out what she is saying. Here's an example of one of our recent conversations.
Carolyn: "Scott and I got Flat Plane from Netflix to watch this weekend."
Me: "Flat Plane?"
Carolyn: "No, not Flat Plane, it's Flat Plane."
Me: "Huh? You mean Flat Plane?"
Carolyn: "No! Flaaaat Plaaaane."
At this point I'm really confused and I feel like I'm having a converstation with my 4 year old when I can't figure out what he is saying.
Me: "okay. I haven't heard of that movie. Who's in it?"
Carolyn: "You know. It has Jodi Foster and she designs an airplane and then her daughter disappears on the airplane."
Me: "Oh! You mean Flight Plan!"
Carolyn: "yeah, Flat Plane!"
