They are being flown to Washington DC to receive their award. They will also be presenting their invention. And they will be meeting several astronauts including John Glen. They will also be touring the White House. There is a rumor that the winners get to meet the President, but I'm waiting to see if this really happens. It is so exciting!
Madison called me from school yesterday. She said, "Mom, I have a situation." I thought oh crap, what testing does she have to do now. Madison never gets in trouble but she is always taking tests, staying for tutoring, etc.
She yelled, "garble garble garble, wash garble!!!"
I couldn't understand what she said, "What?"
"I won the science contest and I'm going to Washington DC!"
I screamed! I was hoping she would win. But I didn't think the odds were on her side simply because this is a major nationwide contest. Apparently I screamed loud enough that the whole room could hear me and they burst out laughing.
Needless to say we were all in a great mood yesterday. Madison is a happy camper, or I guess I should say a happy scientist. (she definitely takes after her dad in the math/science dept.) I know this will do a lot for her self esteem. She won't be afraid to take on more challenges, and it will look great on scholarship submissions! :)
Have I done enough motherly gushing today? I think not! Here's one more, I'm so happy for Madison!
(Oh, and think of the scrap pages I'll be able to do from our trip to DC!)
