Half of it was blue and the other had these white clouds. I plan on taking more sky pictures as the day progresses it so that you can see the sky. Because I'm sure you don't know what the sky looks like, huh? But it is still sunny and humid (of course) but there are winds. We don't usually get wind here so you do notice it.
Speaking of wind there is a house in our subdivison that is taking the story of The Wizard of Oz very seriously. Do you remember how Dorothy's house flew away? Well these smart people are thinking ahead. They are making sure their house will stay put. I bet Aunty Em was wishing they had thought of rope.
Can you see how they tied down their house? Here's a closer view:
My brother Ray, the insurance adjuster, will surely appreciate this stupid human trick. Do they really think they can keep their roof on with ropes? If the wind is strong enough to take your ceiling, I do believe that rope will snap like dental floss!
We rearranged the garage this morning to try to get things safer. And then we talked to neighbors to take role call and see what people may need. We have a great neighborhood here.
We are now being told to expect 75 mph wind. I'm glad it's under the 100 mark. Everyone was told to board up our windows on the south side. Well, now the storm has shifted so the wind is now coming from the north. So people are trying to board up the back of their houses now. But with the shift in the storm we are supposed to get more than we thought. Our house is the one that always gets the most backed up water in our neighborhood so I am worried about this. But hey, maybe I'll get new carpet out of this!
Thank you for your prayers last night. I really needed sleep. I was feeling a lot of anxiety and I knew I needed rest to get ready for tonight. I went to bed at 11:30 and slept until 9:00! I feel so much better.
Now I am going to go wash out the bathtub and fill it with water. We may need this water for bathing and flushing toilets. And then John and I are going to tie our roof down.
Love you all,
